HONOR FOR KIRSTEN MCEDWARD

USTA Vermont and USTA New England honored Kirsten McEdward with a
Special Achievement Award
"For Years of Outstanding Service to Promoting Tennis."

The presentation was at the Grassroots Camp at Teela-Wooket in
Roxbury, VT, on Friday August 5th. Gary Pina, President of
USTA New England, presented the award.

In addition, the current issue of the USTA Magazine, Supplement to
Tennis, via the insert (sort of like a center fold) USTA N.E.T. NEWS
New England Tennis of Sep/Oct 2011, featured an article by USTA-VT's
Diane Meyer
    "Vermont's Kirsten McEdward: Mission Accomplished"
on insert pages 4 and 5,

The article explains, in part, that McEdward coordinated the two-day
overnight camp for 24 years before retiring last year. The event
brings up to 50 kids from around the state together, along with
a volunteer staff, for two great days of tennis and other activities.

The camp started in Stratton and then moved to The Bridges. Eleven
years ago Windridge Tennis Camp owner Ted Hoehn agreed to bring the
camp to the Teela-Wooket site in Roxbury. Windridge a few years ago
began offering a scholarship for one of the grassroots campers to
attend Windridge for two weeks.

The article is well worth tracking down, and reading in full.

Congratulations to long time MIT Member and VT Tennis stalwart,
Kirsten McEdward.
