In Men's ``A'' Singles, Andrew Urbanak (Cornwall and the University of Southern Maine) won a second time, defeating Roland Macey (Crown Point, NY) in the final, 6-2, 6-1.
The Women's ``A/B'' singles was won by Amy Sheldon (East Middlebury) in a Round Robin format, in which she defeated Michele Butler (Bristol) 6-1, 6-1, and Kirsten Hoving (Middlebury) 6-0, 6-0. Butler gained runner-up status, besting Hoving 6-1, 6-4.
Sharon Gross (Middlebury) took the Women's ``C'' title with a win over Diane DeLaBruere (Bristol), 6-1, 6-1.
The Men's ``B'' Division was won by Jim Samler (Brandon) in a tight match with MUMS student Ben Randlett (Waltham), ending 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.
Andy Killorin (Weybridge) won the Elementary School draw, besting Rainer Kenney (Brandon) in the final, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. Other participants were Connor Gross (Middlebury), Phoenix Kenney (Brandon), Mallory James (Weybridge), Eliza Carver (New Haven), Helen and James Cobb (Middlebury), Abby Killorin (Weybridge), Grace Gahagan (Brandon).
Ben Randlett (Waltham) edged out his brother Nate in the finals of the High School draw, 6-3, 6-4. Also competing were Ethan West and Sarah Huddleston of Weybridge, Rini Lovshin-Smith and Annie Powell of Middlebury, and Whitney Keating (Brandon).
Doubles:
MIT held the First Annual Holiday Doubles Tournament December 30 and 31.
The nature of the applications suggested to Tournament Director Franz Collas
an unusual arrangement: For the ``A'' Level Draw, a combination of Men's,
Women's and Mixed teams; and for the ``B/C'' Level Draw a straightforward
Women's Doubles.
His judgment did in fact result in close matches, four of which went
three sets, with two third set tie-breakers.
In the ``A'' Draw, Roland Macey (Crown Point, NY) and Mark Slattery (Moriah, NY) defeated Bob Kesner (Waltham) and Amy Sheldon (East Middlebury), 6-2, 6-3.
At the ``B/C'' level, Diane DeLaBruere (Bristol) and Jacki Galenkamp (Orwell) out lasted Sharon Gross (Middlebury) and Patty Whittemore (Ripton) 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) in the longest and tightest match of the tournament.

The next tournaments at MIT will be held later this winter. Formats planned
are Men's and Women's Singles and Doubles (no Mixed Doubles).
With USTA Sanctioning, some of the top players in Vermont and Eastern New York
are expected.
