Vermont Grassroots Tennis Camp of 2008

The 22nd Annual Vermont Grassroots Tennis Camp was held August 4-5 at Windridge -- Teela-Wooket in Roxbury, VT.

The camp is non-profit and sponsored by USTA Vermont for advanced beginner Vermont junior tennis players. Forty-five Vermont Juniors from all across the state participated in this intensive two day camp.

Eight experienced tennis professionals, most of them high school coaches from around the state, volunteer their time for the two day camp. Kirsten McEdward is the camp director.

Nine Juniors from Addison County participated:

  • Bob and Marvie Avery, Christian Higgins, Julia and Lily Rosenberg, all from Cornwall;
  • Louisa Jerome from Brandon;
  • Russell Cary from Bridport;
  • Levi Baldwin and Tyler Sawyer from Vergennes.
The kids were nominated by instructors and junior tennis players from as far away as Brattleboro, to the south, and Troy and St.Johnsbury, on the north, as well as the more central communities of Burlington, Montpelier, White River and Manchester.
